Windansea Board Riders
Cam started surfing at 3 years old here on the Sunshine Coast. Born and raised in Caloundra and still there today. Cams dad Ewan introduced him to surfing at a young age. Ewan would take Cam down on a body board while he went out for a surf. One day as Ewan was paddling in, he noticed Cam standing up along the waves on the bodyboard. He had managed to teach himself at the age of 3 by watching his dad surf and wanting to copy him.
Cam grew up idolising Gabriel Medina and still does to this day. “He has been my hero since i was a kid, I admire how hard he trains and how focused he is. He is a beast at it all. (Rail, air, power, barrels)”. Cam’s dream is to become a professional surfer.
Cam’s surfs a creative style with new school approach. “I think we all love getting barrelled”.
Cam’s likes to hit the weekend with an early coffee, watching clips of Medina before hitting the surf. Never without a Saturday morning visit to the bakery before heading out for a second surf. The rest of the day involves a nap, another coffee and to then find the energy for a 3rd surf.
In most people’s case a day like this would involve a late wind down and relaxing but not Cam. Cam will then either hit the gym or the pub for dinner before then hitting the beach again for a night surf on some occasions.
It’s tricky for Cam to find the balance between work and surf while trying to go pro but is doing a great job making it happen. He is currently completing a chippy apprenticeship.
Hopefully with all the hard work we will see Cam reach his dream becoming a professional. He certainly has the talent to make it happen.
